Week of the 2nd September
At the end of the previous week, we were washed off for 2 and a half days so expectations were high and justifiably so. Monday ended up as something special with 20 salmon landed to the five rods. Jimmy Royds, and Jamie Clifton-Brown caught 5 each, Toby Buckler caught 4, Liliana Sykes caught 3, Jonathan Sykes caught 2 and Jonathan Jardine-Patterson caught his first ever salmon.
We ended up with 40 salmon for the week, 30 of them caught on a 1 inch Ally conehead. Jamie Clifton-Brown was top rod with 12, best 25lb from the Washerwoman. Toby Buckler was second with 8, best 15lb from Millers. Jimmy Royds was next with 6, best 23lb from the Scarp. He was only fishing for 3 days.
The top pool was Millers with 8 salmon then Burnmouth with 6, then Washerwoman with 4. There are a lot of big fish around, Jamie Clifton-Brown’s was the biggest at 25lb then Jimmy Royds at 23lb then Jonathan Sykes’s at 18lb. We hear there was a 27lb salmon from the Gruiniards side caught in Kennel run on the Saturday. They also caught a 39 inch salmon from Gardners run.
