Yet again the forecasters promised us rain but despite the neighboring Oykel rising to near 3ft we just made it to 0″ on our gauge. Saying that it was the highest it’s been since Aril. I have had a look back through the book and this drought started on the 24th of April when the gauge went below 0″ Since then we have caught 62 salmon and grilse. Only 4 salmon have been caught with the gauge above 0″ the other 58 were below 0″

The Benson party caught 3 grilse for their week. George himself caught a fresh grilse in the Morail on the monday then Mr D Gibson caught 2 on the 29th, One in the Lower Craigs and one in Ronnies.
The party also had the Gledfield beat where they also caught 3. One of which was 16lb
