Week of the 8th August
Monday started with 4ft6 on the gauge and the water was cooler with the Northwest wind. By late afternoon we were down to 18″. John McCulloch caught a fresh grilse of 4lb in Contractors and then an 18lber just before the tree’s at the tail of the Washerwoman.
On Tuesday Three grilse were landed, one to Christopher Lees-Jones in Upper Craigs and two more to John McCulloch from Charlies and Gardners.
Wednesday looked promising with minus 3 on the gauge, 2 fish were caught by the host Paul Gardner, one in Millers weighing 14lb and a grilse from Margarets. Wednesday also saw our first morning with frost first thng.
Thursday saw the river rise all morning peaking at about 4ft6 but dropped quickly. Rex Wilkinson hit the tail of Millers right landing 4 between 5pm and 5.40pm weighing 14lb,12lb,8lb and 4lb all from the same spot. Paul Gardner also caught a 13lber in Contractors.
Saturday started with 2ft3 on the gauge, again Millers produced a 16lb salmon to Philip Gardner.
