Week of the 5th of June
After a long dry spell the river rose on Tuesday. On the rise with the gauge at minus 6 Mike Burge caught 1 at 9lb in the Morail then with plus 6 inches John Knott caught 1 at 7lb in Gardners run.The river carried on rising to about 5ft during the night.
On Wednesday, with 3ft on the gauge three were caught, all by Paul Birch, 1 from Boat and 2 from Bank weighing 12, 4 and 9lb.
On Thursday with the river down to minus 3 another 3 were caught, 1 to Mike Burge from Lower Craigs weighing 8lb, 1 to Paul Birch from Boat also weighing 8lb and 1 to John Collins from the Washerwoman weighing 15.5lb.
Friday saw a rising river, at 2 inches John Knott had 1 from the Morail, Paul Birch had 1 from the Boat David Noden had 1 from the Washerwoman and at 6 inches John Collins had 1 from Burnmouth.
On Saturday with minus 3 on the gauge 3 were caught, all weighing 12lb. 2 came from Lower Craigs to John Knott and Mike Burge and 1 from Gardners to Paul Birch.
We are not seeing many fish but 16 for the week is a good start to June. No sign of any sea-trout yet but it was quite cold at night in fact we had a frost one night.
