Week of the 15th April
With 1ft 3 on the gauge, expectations were high on Monday morning and the Arkwright party were out on the river at the back of 6 in the morning. It was a good job because all 4 salmon were caught before 9 am. 4 more were lost with 2 of them just coming to the net.
Thomas Arkwright landed 2 with Jack Cooke-Hurle and Jake Warman landing one each. All 4 were from the Morail.
It’s a mystery why nothing else was caught because Gruinards opposite landed 4 and lost 3 during the day!!
Despite good water the next few days were quiet until Thomas Arkwright landed an 8lber from the Morail on Friday.
On Saturday Thomas landed our first salmon from above the Morail falls from the Field weighing 8lb. The water temperature was 44.5F
I understand Gruinards landed 9 salmon for the week, Dounie 5, Cornhill 4 and Gledfield 7. We don’t know what was caught on Invercarron.
