A Brief History of Braelangwell Lodge

Braelangwell 'Shooting' Lodge, was originally part of Balnagown Estates and was let for its accommodation and fishing as early as 1948.
For a short time Braelangwell was a hotel and became a private residence in 1962, much to the relief of the local Constabulary who had reputedly tired of the drunken revelry emanating from the Public and Cocktail Bars!
The west end of the Lodge was built in 1748 and the rest of the house extended some 100 years later. A wing which echoed the east wing and housed the Public Bar, 'Whisky Store' and further bedrooms has been demolished otherwise the Lodge remains unaltered.
